CANADIAN PASSPORT APPLICATIONS

Land and sea travel to the United States | Updated January 08, 2008


As of January 31, 2008, Canadians entering the United States by land and marine ports of entry will be required to present:

  • a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's licence AND a birth certificate or a citizenship card; OR

  • for youth under 18, a birth certificate; OR

  • a valid passport.

Passports Required for Air Travel to United States as of January 23, 2007

All Travellers entering the United States MUST present a valid Passport when arriving by air as of January 2007. This includes all children regardless of age will require passports to enter the United States of America.

Where do I get a Canadian passport?

Canadian Passport applications can be obtained at your local

post office or Passport Office, you can find a list of service locations for your Canadian Passport.

How Can I Apply Online for a Canadian Passport?

You can also obtain a Canadian Passport Application Online, this is available to Canadians 16 years of age and older only.
You will need to print your application form, sign it and have your guarantor sign your completed application form and one of your photos. You will have to either present your application with supporting documents to one of our service locations or mail it in with the supporting documents. more info here

Printable Canadian Passport Forms

  • For adults (16 years of age or over): PPTC 044

  • For children (under 16 years of age): PPTC 046

  • To report a lost, stolen, damaged, destroyed or
    inaccessible passport that is still valid:
    PPTC 203

  • Important: Poorly printed forms are not acceptable.

Printing Requirements

  • Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® version 5.0 or later.

  • Form is to be printed on white, 8 ½ x 11 inches (216 x 279 mm), bond quality, non-glossy paper.

  • Set the PAGE SCALING at NONE and select the AUTO-ROTATE AND CENTER option,

    both found under PAGE HANDLING when the Print dialogue appears.
